National schools cross country cup: County round

Five girls took part in the Hampshire round of the National schools cross country cup on Monday 14th October. 17 schools from the County were present at this event and the weather was horrendous. It rained constantly and the girls approached the conditions with such great positivity. They were all very calm at the start of their race despite being completely soaked even before the gun went off. It was a race of around 2,500m in length involving lots of hills. Our Intermediate Team were made up of Year 9 and 10 girls. Kiki Webb finished in 1st place with an impressive lead. Rosie Kelly also finished strongly and came in 3rd place. Amelia Smith finished in 11th place, Ava Phillips in 12th and Mia Ingram in 21st place. We finished with a superb score of 27points – 8 points ahead of second place and have qualified for the Regional Finals on Saturday 9th November. If they finish in the top three positions in this Regional round they then qualify for the National Finals. The National Finals this year is taking place on Saturday 7th December at Mount St Mary’s College, Spinkhill, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire. Good luck, girls!
